What Body Type Are You?

All of us are blessed with unique body types and working with your uniqueness makes dressing so much easier. A fundamental part of slaying the dressing game is to be able to play up to your strengths and mute the weaker elements.so to that end, lets begin with how to identify your body type.

While most of us can look in a mirror and roughly land on the correct shape, having it written down always helps. I find that hard facts like numbers helps to reinforce the idea and makes everything more real. So if you can, please take the time to use a measuring tape and measure your shoulders, waist and hips.

 

Tips for measuring:

Mearurements

 

  • Shoulders: Measure the shoulders from the edge of one to the other. You can feel the bone at the tip of each shoulder. Square your back and hold your head high. Always measure at the back of your shoulders. You may need to ask someone to help you with this one.
  • Waist: The position where your body curves naturally or two-three inches above your navel. For added measure also take an inch below the navel. It will let you know how much your waist curves.
  • Hips: Begin by standing with your feet together, look in a mirror and measure the widest part of your hip. Be sure to keep the measuring tape parallel to the ground.

 

It would be best to measure against your bare skin, so you would get the most accurate measurements. Write all three measurements down.
